Architectural wiring diagrams show the approximate locations and interconnections of receptacles, lighting, and permanent electrical services in a building. Interconnecting wire routes may be shown approximately, where particuular receptacles or fixtures must be on a common circuit.
Architectural style wiring diagram, with lamps and switches shown symbolically in their physical locations on the plan view of the building.

Wiring diagrams use standard symbols for wiring devices, usually different from those used on schematic diagrams. The electrical symbols not only show where something is to be installed, but also what type of device is being installed. For example, a surface ceiling light is shown by one symbol, a recessed ceiling light has a different symbol, and a surface fluorescent light has another symbol. Each type of switch has a different symbol and so do the various outlets. There are symbols that show the location of smoke detectors, the doorbell chime, and thermostat. On large projects symbols may be numbered to show, for example, the panel board and circuit to which the device connects, and also to identify which of several types of fixture are to be installed at that location.

A set of wiring diagrams may be required by the electrical inspection authority to approve connection of the residence to the public electrical supply system.

Wiring diagrams will also include panel schedules for circuit breaker panelboards, and riser diagrams for special services such as fire alarm or closed circuit television or other special services.

How to Write a Cover Letter

Although (perhaps because) the cover letter is such an important document, you may encounter several conflicting opinions as you how it should look (What is a Cover Letter?). The following guidelines are my own suggestions. Finally, however, you must decide how to write the letter that’s best for you. Pass it along to as many different faculty as you trust, solicit their advice, be prepared for conflicting advice, be prepared to write and rewrite the letter many times, and understand that you’ll probably send out a letter that’s not entirely your own work. There are three things to keep in mind as you write your letter:

1. Make every word count.
2. Keep hitting your audience with what makes you different without being overbearing or telling lies.
3. Establish a voice.

Remember that the cover letter is the single most important document of your job search. It’s the document that will get you an interview and an audience for your writing sample, and it’s the document to which the committee will return after you have interviewed. A hastily written letter is unlikely to get attention, and since it’s time-consuming to apply for jobs, don’t bother unless you’re prepared to spend some time on your cover letter. Start working on this letter during the summer before you begin your job search. It can easily take several months to write, and you will need to pass it along to people many times before it’s complete.

Below, we will show you how to write a resume cover letter.

Paragraph one: introduction. Mention the job you’re applying for and where you saw it advertised. Since your curriculum vitae will give information about your degree (where and when), dissertation director, fellowships, prizes and so on, you don’t need to mention them in your letter. Doing so takes up valuable space in the letter and, more importantly, marks you as a graduate student. Try to sound like a professional, someone who has already put graduate school behind you. The selection committee will look at your vitae and see all these details in a more readable format. The same goes for areas of specialization.

Paragraph two: dissertation. Don’t bother with the director’s name; it’s in the vitae. So is the list of publications that came out of the dissertation. Don’t use the letter to recapitulate anything that’s in the vitae, except the title of the dissertation. This paragraph is critical. Try to convey the main idea of your project, the originality of your work, the writers you cover, and the approach you take. One nice detail of a chapter will give readers something to hold onto. You may also address future research in this or a later paragraph.

Paragraph three: teaching experience and philosophy. Mention your philosophy, perhaps a brief example of how you put it to work, and special courses you would like to teach.

Paragraph four: final paragraph. Tell what you have enclosed, whether a dossier is on its way, how the school should get one if it needs one, whether you will be available at MLA (which you should). Don’t spend too much time thanking them.

Alternative Wiring Schematic for 3 Pickup Gibson or Epiphone NIGHTHAWK This is an alternative wiring for the Nighthawk. It involves modifications to the guitar which you shouldn't attempt if you don't' know what you are doing, or if you want to keep it to original specs. I found the existing Epi Nighthawk wiring not very useful. It under-utilised the guitar's potential, and included some horrible sounds. This modification gave me access to better and more useable sounds. I wanted standard strat style wiring, as well as Les Paul Bridge-Neck parallel settings. I was shocked when I saw how poor the Epi five-way switch was. Replaced it with a Dimarzio strat switch. Also, rather than taking all the earth wires back to the volume pot, they've just soldered them together into a big blob, without any insulation. I assume the Gibson was done better. The middle and bridge PUPS of the Epi are OBL which suggest they are Lawrence, but they are not. Bill Lawrence describes them on his website as cheap Korean PUPS. I hated the noise coming from the single coil PUP, and replaced it with a spare Lace Chrome Dome that I had, which sounds great. The neck mini humbucker sounds and looks identical to the ones I heard on two Gibson Nighthawks, which leads me to suspect that it is the same M-Series Pup. Whatever, it is absolutely superb, and the guitar is worth having just to play the neck PUP. I'm considering replacing the OBL bridge PUP, though its not too bad. I don't know what the gizmo is stacked on top of the tone pot (a dummy coil perhaps?), and it isn't wired into my configuration. I replaced the coil-tap switch with a three-way rotary switch that has three poles for each of four outputs. The aluminium shaft of the switch was the same diameter as a volume or tone pot, but I had to trim the length with a fine hacksaw blade, and polish with a file. I bored out the existing hole very carefully and slowly with a sharp metal drill bit by hand (just twist it with your bare hand. I wouldn't use a power or hand-drill), and had to chisel 2 or 3 millimetres of timber (just the chisel in my hand, no mallet or hammer) inside the wiring cavity of the guitar for the thread to accept the nut on the face of the guitar. I then sourced an Epi/Gibson Amber coloured bell-knob, identical to the ones on the volume and tone pots. The wiring is a little complicated, and you'll need some patience. You probably shouldn't attempt this if you can't figure the wiring logic out. Also consult standard strat wiring diagrams if you get stuck on the five-way switch. If someone can suggest a simpler way to wire this up, than please let people know. Sorry about the primitive state of my wiring diagram. The three-way rotary switch and five-way Strat switch give the following pickup combinations....

Gibson Pickup Wiring Diagram Vintage Style Two Conductor Models....The P-94 pickup comes with two insulated lead wires plus a bare wire twisted with a green lead (note: there may be a red wire included, this is a “dead” lead
which you may cut). Connect either the white or black lead wire to the volume

must read first. Our time in the lab will be intense, but of limited duration, so it is important that
you complete the readings on time. Not only is the reading essential to your success in 5.301, but it
also will help in your development as an experimental chemist.
So, before you begin your experiments, take some time to read over the following chapters
in Zubrick. This text was selected because it's easy to read and very practical. For more in-depth
reading on these and related topics, we recommend the listed selections in the text by Leonard,
Lygo, and Procter. A copy of this text will be available in the Reserve Book Room of the Science
library. It is often difficult to fully grasp a laboratory concept by simply reading about it, but using
the strategy of introductory reading, practicing in the lab, and post-lab review reading you will retain
most of what we will cover in 5.301.
At the beginning of each lab period, there will be a short overview of that day's topic where
Dr. Tabacco and your TAs will facilitate a discussion of the assigned reading and the actual lab
experiment. You will also view relevant portions of The Digital Lab Techniques Manual to give
you a visual representation of the important techniques. Time will be set aside to answer questions
that you have from the readings.
The following list is the bulk of the reading for the course. There will also be additional

The Ford 7.3L Juice Module
The picture below shows the Ford 7.3L Juice Module for the Ford 7.3L engine with all available options – Both the Attitude™ display monitor and the three position switch. It is essential that the cables that are supplied with this module get connected as shown on the following pages.

Harness Connector
Your Juice module may be equipped with a harness that can be disconnected at the Juice module itself (See figure 1A). It is important to make sure that your juice module is always connected to the harness when the wiring harness is connected to the truck, otherwise the truck may not run properly, or may trip engine “codes.”

Engine Codes
As with many aftermarket electronic performance modifications available for the Ford 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel engine the Ford 7.3L Edge Products Juice module for the Ford 7.3 Power Stroke® Diesel engine will likely set engine “codes.”
The engine codes are generally set during heavy acceleration. Although the codes will remain “set” in the PCM, the dash board indicator light should turn off within 15 minutes. Most codes that are set under hard acceleration are called “soft codes”. These soft codes are retained in the PCM and can be erased by unhooking the battery for 30 minutes, or by using the Edge
Products Evolution to clear the codes.
Codes that may be set:
• P1211 – Injector control pressure is different than expected
• P1209 – Peak injection pressure fault
The Ford 7.3L Juice Module modifies sensor readings that are monitored by the ECM. These sensor inputs may or may not be what the ECM is expecting at any point in time. Because of the difference in expected readings the ECM may set the engine codes. This is not expected to harm the Ford 7.3L engine and should not cause damage to the engine.

The following pictures shows Honda Accord VTEC engine diagram. The engine has a normal 4 valves per cylinder arrangement. At low end speed, the primary intake valve operates at normal lift while the secondary intake valve opens only slightly to prevent fuel accumulation in the intake port. At high engine speed the primary and secondary intake rocker arms are connected to the mid intake rocker arm to allow high valve lift. A synchronizing piston connects/disconnects the three intake rocker arms. Hydraulic pressure against a timing piston moves the synchronizing piston A and B one direction, while a stopper piston and return spring moves the synchronizing piston back when hydraulic pressure is reduced.

The above VTEC engine diagram shows following parts: primary rocker arm, camshaft, synchronizing piston A, synchronizing piston B, timing piston, intake valve, timing plate, mid rocker arm, and secondary rocker arm.

can take a full size street directory and have

front door pockets and small centre armrest

pockets, small moulded trays next to the seat
look after your knick knacks. Large and heavy,
the rear hatch opens quite high, in fact you
need to be a bit careful with it. Once open it
can require a bit of muscle to get back down.
The good thing is it gives great access to the
large boot area. Another plus is the 60:40 split
rear seat which folds completely flat for big
loads, and you can do it without removing the
